Death and the lady (provisional title)
with Rosemary Standley
Presentation
It was in England in the 1960s that the “folk” movement began, the rapid success of which would have a profound influence on all folk music on an international scale. We then draw extensively on the collections of songs collected and published from the 19th century by personalities like Francis James Child (1825-1896), Cecil Sharp (1859-1924) or Ralph Vaughan Williams (1872-1958) while renewing the practice Playford contradances or morris dances…
These repertoires which have their roots in past centuries and which often bear witness to Scottish or Irish influences are today revived by the inimitable Rosemary Standley and Les Musiciens de Saint-Julien who have a common taste for the British music of yesterday and today.
On stage, Rosemary’s voice is supported by the countersongs of Enea Sorini and Hélène Richaud and accompanied by ancient instruments (flutes, smallpipes, violin, tympanon, cittern, harp, viol, cello, percussion).
