Georg Philipp Telemann
12 Fantasies for solo flute
Description
The sensitivity and virtuosity of François Lazarevitch are displayed in this complete set of the famous Fantasies for solo flute.
Telemann’s 12 Fantasies are a pinnacle of flute repertoire. Organized by tones gradually rising from the tone of LA to that of SOL, a cycle for solo flute of such size does not know no equivalent.
Each having their own climate, these fantasies are miniatures which connect 3 or 4 movements of same tone. What they have in common is concision, brevity of forms and the rapid alternation of their movements. At every moment Telemann holds the listener in suspense by playing on the effects of contrast and surprise by the alternation of opposite characters and tempi.
The 12 Fantasies are an ideal field of freedom and expression of the inexhaustible imagination of their author, a fervent actor in the union of German, Italian, French and Polish tastes. Telemann’s genius covers all genres, national styles and writing styles of his time.
