About
Purcell, Songs & dances
Alpha classics has put together a selection of musical works to accompany Christmas Eve in 2 CDs. These include the beautiful carols from the album ‘Noël baroque’ by the Maîtrise de Radio France and Les Musiciens de Saint-Julien by François Lazarevitch, which has been a great success in recent years.
These pieces are complemented by Noëls en Pays d’Oc and other early carols, as well as extracts from the great classical sacred masterpieces, including Handel’s Messiah and Vivaldi’s Gloria, Bach’s Mass in B by Hervé Niquet, Raphaël Pichon and other instrumental pieces by Amandine Beyer, Café Zimmermann… An ideal programme for celebrating Christmas. This double album is presented in an elegant pop-up box that will fit neatly under the Christmas tree when the time comes.

What could, in other hands, become anecdotal is not flattered by easy makeup, but revived by an inexhaustible improvisatory energy!
